Hockey - “Wild Style”
Hot off the presses! Hockey’s new album, Wyeth IS, (digitally) drops next week, but right now… yes right now… you can check out the records opening tune, “Wild Style”. It’s the fourth track the band has leaked and while “Calling Back” has been my jam for sometime now… I think “Wild Style” is THE cut off this record. You be the judge.

Local Natives - “Heavy Feet”
Choice track off Local Natives’ new record, Hummingbird.
Two things that always blow me away with these guys are 1) the incredible harmonies and 2) the absolutely jaw dropping drum chops of Matt Frazier… guy is a f’ing monster on the kit!
Currently in the middle of their two Coachella performances, the band will pretty much be touring the world for the rest of 2013… catch ‘em if you can. :)

Phosphorescent - “Terror In The Canyons (The Wounded Master)”
“I could be the tether, or I could be the place, or I could be forever, or just a couple days, or I could be the morning that breaks upon your skin, or I could be the devil and do it all again”
“Defeat on the Double Bass Line” is the second song released from Hockey’s new album and its downtempo feel is fitting perfectly into my ears right now.
Ben seems so much more comfortable singing in this lower range vs. the straining hes had to do on tracks like “Too Fake” and “Learn to Lose.”
Loving the lyrics that have come out thus far in both this cut and “Calling Back.” Also digging the subtle hints of Zenyatta Mondatta era Police.
You can pick-up Wyeth IS digitally on May 7th, and physically on June 25th.
Tons of good news for you today! We’re extremely excited to announce that our new album, Miracle Mile, will be released Feb 19th, 2013 on Polyvinyl Records! It’s available for pre-order RIGHT NOW on CD, 2xLP (red & green or cream colored vinyl), cassette (red tape).

Fang Island - “Asunder”
Brand spanking new single from Fang Island’s eagerly anticipated sophomore album, Major (out 7/24 on Sargent House).
These guys bring non-stop energy to everything they do, and “Asunder” is no exception. Guitarist/vocalist, Jason Bartell, was recently quoted saying, “One of our core ideas has always been that our songs would be all of your favorite parts of the song that other bands make you wait 8 minutes to get to.”
I’ll high-five to that.

Bruce Springsteen - “Easy Money”
The Boss’ new album, Wrecking Ball, is a powerful record packed with sweeping themes of frustration and hope.
One of Springsteen’s strongest releases in a career full of No. 1’s, Wrecking Ball is also his first album since the death of E Street Band saxophonist, Clarence Clemons (though he can be heard on “Wrecking Ball” and “Land Of Hope And Dreams”).
On “Easy Money,” the answer to economic strife comes with a little help from a Smith & Wesson… and it’s quite rad.
The Shins - “Simple Song” (Live on Letterman)
Rad new track from The Shins forthcoming release, Port Of Morrow. Really looking forward to checking out the rest of the album (out March 20th). Tour and festival dates are here, and include Coachella, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo and a run of shows w/ Blind Pilot and The Head & The Heart.

Dr. Dog - “That Old Black Hole”
Choice number off Dr. Dog’s new record, Be The Void. The jury is still out on how I feel about the album as a whole, but early on I’m really drawn to this track.
M83 - “Wait”
Delicately awesome track off Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. This record sits firmly in my year end top five. Patient and powerful.
M83 just announced new North American tour dates for the spring. Check em out here.

Megafaun - “Real Slow”
So glad I was turned onto Megafaun (thanks Todd). Their new self-titled record blends a rad balance of lyric-centric folk and experimental psychedelia to create a challenging, yet accessible album.
The group was born after the break-up of Wisconsin based band, DeYarmond Edison. That bands leader, Justin Vernon, went on to form Bon Iver… and the rest of the band became Megafaun.
While they’ve had a slightly different trajectory of success compared to Vernon’s project, Megafaun’s Megafaun is still one of the stronger releases of 2011.

Wilco - “Born Alone”
While Wilco’s new album, The Whole Love, is still growing on me… a couple tracks have instantly grabbed my attention. Along with the mind-blowing Radiohead-esque opening track, “Art of Almost,” I’m really digging “Born Alone.” Brings me back to more of the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sound that cemented me as a Wilco fan.

‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ by Procol Harum
Quite possibly my favorite song. Ever. Def one of my top 5 all time favorites. That’s saying something…
Now maybe some things are better left unsaid
But if you wanted to test that out, well, yeah, I guess, I could’ve said.
But there were nights in...
