Phish - “SIMPLE” (Live at Dick’s 8.29.14)

One of the single best jams of 2014 and one of the best Simple’s ever. No-brainer.

Marco Benevento - “At The Show” (Live at WFUV)

Such a cut. Go check out Marco and his stellar band on their fall tour. Dates can be found right here. :)

The War On Drugs - “Eyes to the Wind” (Live on KEXP)

Some albums are just so fucking good that you can’t ever decide on your favorite tune. Trust me… it’s a good problem to have… and one that’s caused by listening to The War On Drugs.

The War On Drugs - “An Ocean in Between the Waves”

Absolutely phenomenal track from The War On Drugs. Lost In The Dream currently sits as my clear favorite for album of the year, and this cut just might be its crown jewel.

As with several of the other standouts on LITD, the beat set by drummer, Charlie Hall, drives the track like a chugging 80’s freight train. Chug on War On Drugs… chug on.

First Aid Kit - “Master Pretender”

Knock out track from First Aid Kit’s new record. Can’t stop listening.

"Oh the streets of New York City / Sure look pretty from way up here.” The moment that line comes in at 1:53 is pure magic.

Langhorne Slim & The Law - “Past Lives”

Raw. Passionate. Real. Langhorne Slim is all of these. “Past Lives” has so much feeling oozing out of it… gives me chills.

Phish - “Waiting All Night”

Really digging this new Phish tune and the production that Bob Ezrin brings to the table. While the track mostly floats in the clouds, there’s also a dope Floyd-esque eeriness that surrounds. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the record.

Radiohead - “Idioteque” (Live at Glastonbury)

Andrew Duhon - “The Moorings”

"And I’ll hold on hope when I let you go / Though you loved me well, I set out alone / And I will trust these winds / That they will not fail / Open up my heart / Let it be my sail”

"For the day it will come when my traveling is done / And I’ll search for a light on the shoreline / Though I know your harbor slips hold vessels worthier than this / If there’s room would you cast to me your line”

Bright Eyes - “Arc Of Time (Time Code)”

Rad polyrhythms highlight this under appreciated cut. Digital Ash In a Digital Urn has a tendency to get buried, mainly due to its simultaneous 2005 release alongside the stellar, I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning. This record deserves it’s own avenue of admiration… no-brainer.

New Phish album, Fuego, drops June 24th. Dope.

Andrew Duhon - “Evelyn”

Discovered the amazingly talented, Andrew Duhon, when I was down in New Orleans for JazzFest. Andrew’s voice instantly grabbed me and made me think of Amos Lee, but it’s his lyrics and soul that set him apart as his own heavyweight.

Andrew’s band has a few upcoming West Coast dates before heading over to the UK in July. Check out the tour here (Portland show will be 7/1/14). Catch him at these small venues before he makes the theater leap. Do it!

Grateful Dead - “Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain” (Live 5/8/77)

Heading to SF tomorrow, so this silky smooth gem seems quite appropriate. I wasn’t even a thought in my parents mind when this beauty dropped. Pure magic.

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros - “Car Crash” (Live @ KCRW)

A stunning unreleased track penned by Jade. We were super close to missing this session… but as with seemingly all things ESMZ… it all worked out. :)

Arcade Fire - “Afterlife” (Official Video)

Beautiful video from the incomparable, Arcade Fire.

"Afterlife. I think I saw what happens next
Oh, it was just a glimpse of you, like looking through a window
Or a shallow sea. Could you see me?
And after all this time
It’s like nothing else we used to know
And after all the hangers-on are done hanging on in the dead light
Of the afterglow”
